Stori is the female lead of VARGA, the Nordic duo behind Neo Viking Rock Trap. In the world of the songs she is a warrior — a shieldmaiden rather than a damsel, who takes a bench and rows the long crossings, goes over the side onto strange beaches, and leads the raid herself when the season calls for it.

She is blonde with black streaks, green-eyed, and marked on both arms by matching sleeves that run from a runic compass down into botanical linework — the same vegvísir motif her counterpart wears at the throat. He carries the path; she carries the compass.

She swears the oath first in Iron Oath, because somebody has to and the one who goes first is the one everyone else measures. She rows the eleven days in Jörmungandr and laughs when the swell lifts the ship, and then keeps rowing, which is the entire moral of that chapter. In Distant Thunder she is the one away at war and Reign holds the coast — the roles trade by season, and both of them have done both.

She is not the protagonist of the saga. Neither is he. That is rather the point.
